Ridgewood Nepalese Society (RNS) is a domestic not-for-profit organization registered in New York State since 2003. The main purpose of this organization is to promote Nepalese arts and cultures, and unite Nepalese people in Ridgewood, New York City, and throughout the United States. The community activities such as celebrating festivals together, helping for newly arrived Nepalese immigrants for their settlement, and raising funds for community purpose in the area were started from 1998 however, the organization was formally registered five year later. RNS is recognized as one of the most unite and influential organization among Nepalese organizations in NYC, and in the nation. An estimated number of Nepalese people in Ridgewood area is about 2,000 at the end of the year 2017 with about 400-450 households. RNS has about 500 formal members including General and Life members. RNS has more than 1000 donors including events sponsors and monthly donors. RNS has already raised more than $.5 million dollars for community development. It has purchased a land in Ridgewood area, and the construction of Nepalese Community Center (NCC) and Durga Temple (DT) are in progress. The main office of this organization has been remained in Ridgewood area of New York City.
